چکیده

We investigate the linear stability of scalarized black holes (BHs) and neutron stars (NSs) in Einstein-scalar-Gauss-Bonnet (GB) theories against odd- even-parity perturbations including higher multipole modes. show that angular propagation speeds $\ensuremath{\ell}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\infty}$ limit, with $\ensuremath{\ell}$ being moments, become imaginary hence BH solutions suffer from gradient instability. such an instability appears irrespective structure higher-order terms GB coupling function is caused purely due to existence leading quadratic term boundary condition value scalar field vanishes at spatial infinity. This indicates point mass-charge diagram where branches bifurcate Schwarzschild branch. also realized a nonlinear scalarization model perturbations. Our result suggests exterior static spherically-symmetric NS induced by same functions.

Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet Gravity with Dilaton

We obtain cosmological solutions which admit emergent universe (EU) scenario in the framework of Einstein Gauss-Bonnet gravity coupled with a dilaton field in four dimensions. The coupling parameter of the Gauss-Bonnet terms and the dilaton in the theory are determined for obtaining an EU scenario. The corresponding dilaton potential which admits such scenario is determined. It is found that th...

Gravitational instability of static spherically symmetric Einstein - Gauss - Bonnet black holes in five and six dimensions

Five and six dimensional static, spherically symmetric, asymptotically Euclidean black holes, are unstable under gravitational perturbations if their mass is lower than a critical value set by the string tension. The instability is due to the GaussBonnet correction to Einstein’s equations, and was found in a previous work on linear stability of Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet black holes with constant cu...

Five-dimensional rotating black holes in Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet theory

We present arguments for the existence of five-dimensional rotating black holes with equal magnitude angular momenta in Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet theory with negative cosmological constant. These solutions posses a regular horizon of spherical topology and approach asymptotically an Anti-de Sitter spacetime background. We discuss the general properties of these solutions and, using an adapted count...

The instability of vacua in Gauss-Bonnet gravity

Owing to the quadratic nature of the theory, Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet gravity generically permits two distinct vacuum solutions. One solution (the ”Einstein” vacuum) has a well defined limit as the Gauss-Bonnet coupling goes to zero, whereas the other solution (the ”stringy” vacuum) does not. There has been some debate regarding the stability of these vacua, most recently from Deser & Tekin who ha...

Accelerating Cosmologies in the Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet Theory with Dilaton

We study cosmological solutions in the low-energy effective heterotic string theory, which is the Einstein gravity with Gauss-Bonnet term and the dilaton. We show that the field equations are cast into an autonomous system for flat internal and external spaces, and derive all the fixed points in the system. We also examine the time evolution of the solutions and whether the solutions can give (...
